Stranded Knitting Techniques
Would you like to knit a hat or sweater that has a two color pattern, but feel a bit intimidated about carrying two strands of yarn? In this two hour class you will get a chance to practice three different stranded knitting techniques to find the one that is comfortable for you. We will be working a practice swatch so there is no pressure to have perfect tension. You will learn how to carry both strands in your right hand (throwing), both strands in your left hand (picking), and one strand in each hand. After learning the basics of all three techniques, you will feel more confident to choose the technique that works best for you.
Prior to the class you must be comfortable with knitting in the round.
You will need: two colors of worsted weight yarn, a size US8 (5mm) 16" circular needle, and a stitch marker. Before class begins, using the darker of your two colors, cast on 80 stitches and join in the round and place marker to indicate the beginning of your round. Knit 3 rounds. Keep yarn attached and ready to continue knitting during the class.
